Met the owner of a local pub tonight, Richard, (my last night in London (go figure)). He took me out for drinks with a worker of his, John, and one of their regular customers, Hope.

We hit the pub closest to where I'm staying (the Prince Edward), and then we went to the Railroad Club, a members only establishment that's about 5 blocks from where I'm staying and which I wouldn't have seen in about a million years. One may ask, Chak, why didn't you go to HIS pub since he owns it? The answer my good people is that it was closed so HE could go out drinking. And it was to my good fortune. Hope was quite cute, John was an engaging conversationalist, and Richard was a riot. And, as an added bonus, they only let me buy one of the many rounds of the night.

So to do my charitable duty and record their generousity for prosperity, I shall henceforth and from now on reccommend his pub (the Cock and Bottle) as the best and only pub to visit while in London.

I really had fun tonight, my last night in London. Next update will be from Oklahoma, hopefully after I've had some decent food (the food here really is shit now that I've had it).

And the verdict is..... [Dec. 28th, 2005|06:33 pm]
People:

#1.)York (REALLY friendly)
#2.)Edinburgh (Scottish accents rule, and they're nice too)
#3.)London (everybody there is a tourist or in a hurry)

Things to see:

#1.)London (tons of stuff)
#2/3.)Edinburgh (Lots of stuff to see, some of it really hard to find)
#2/3.)York (Ditto)

Historical appeal (subjective obviously)

#1.)York (I had a fucking CASTLE outside my window...A CASTLE)
#2.)Edinburgh (There's a HUGE castle in the middle of town, wide open for the public)
#3.)London (Buckingham Palace is gay)

Food:

#1.)York (great places to eat, and affordable)
#2.)London (quantity over quality rules the day)
#3.)Edinburgh (Unless you're in the middle of the city, doesn't make for a good supper)

Scenery:

#1.)York (Lots of pretty parks around every corner, and the women were cute)
#2.)London (ditto)
#3.)Edinburgh (ditto on the women but they lack a decent park)

I wish I could have spent more time in:

#1.)York (So much to see and only four days to do it)
#2.)Edinburgh (Biggest New Year's festival in the WORLD, I leave the 30th at 11:30am)
#3.)London (Spent to much time here...5 days isn't enough, 10 is to much)

There's the verdict ladies and gents. I'm not back yet, but I feel obliged to render it anyway. Cheers! I'm going to have a shitty hotel burger now because Scotland is fucking cold and I'm a half-mile from the nearest eatery.

Questions???

Pubs, Places to Eat, and what NOT to do [Dec. 21st, 2005|08:04 pm]
Did you know that St. Pauls cathedral has 530 steps leading up to the top?

I dragged my fat ass up all 530 of them. So very pretty.

Yes, there's a girl. No, we're not going to hook up. Yes, this is a mutual thing. No, I'm not terribly dissappointed. I'd forgotten some things about her since we went to high school together. Her view of the world also isn't terribly compatible with mine.

I'll be sure to post a list of what to see and what not to bother with when I get back Greta. I've been really dissappointed with some of the stuff here.

Also, this place is EXPENSIVE. Bring a pocket full of cash and a Visa or you're gonna be in for a world of shortage. The American Dollar is about 60% of a british pound...so increase the price of everything by 10% then increase it due to exchange rate by another 60% and you'll have the amount to bring. Really not very tourist friendly. So gonna go to Australia next year, I hear it's pretty and the exchange rate isn't as brutal.

London!!!! [Dec. 16th, 2005|01:47 pm]
I'm here and you're not! muahahahaha

Sorry, had to do it.

So far you would be impressed Greta. This is really quite nice, even if the bus stops aren't properly marked.

I've made several stupid mistakes thusfar, the least of which was boarding the wrong train out of Gatwick airport. 13 hours of flight and airports avails me of that mistake though. I won't claim responsibility.

I'm waiting on the Girl right now. Yes Rach, I stole your moniker and now I know why you use it. It's so handy when the people you're communicating with about the Girl/Boy don't know them personally. It just let's them know what's up.

Btw, beer tastes really good at 50ish f... I wouldn't have thought it possible.

This trip really does worry me. I know where I'm going, but I don't know how to get there. I don't know the mood of my traveling companion. I don't know most of the customs. The only thing I have going for me is the fact that I can communicate and that I have a final destination in mind.

Have you ever been in a place in your life that you created yourself and wish to God you could just back out of? This is where I'm at. I know good and well that by the end of the trip I'll be having a fabulous time but the start is shrouded in uncertainty. All for the best I suppose.

Ring, ring. [Sep. 26th, 2005|07:40 pm]
[mood |pissed offpissed off]

My cell phone finally died on me. Just died. The screen is shot and I can't see any information on it. For a long time everything displayed as upside down and backwards but I could read it so it really wasn't a problem, now there's just no display. So, I go down to my cellular provider to see about a replacement. This is where it gets interesting ;p )Keep in mind that my phone is not new. I've had it for nearly three and a half years.) I walked in and showed the lady what was wrong.

She said, "Your screen went out."

"Well, yes it did. I need to see about a replacement," I reply. (The Captain Obvious alarm is going off at full force by now)

"Ok, I see that you have replacement insurance on your phone, so let me get you the number to call" and this is where I cut her off (when I'm faced with a stupid person my social graces fly out the window), "In order to call I need a phone," I said.

"well, uh, you, uh." In order to stop the stammering I grabbed the paper from her and walked out the door.

I got the number and managed to dial it blind on my phone. After navigating a "press 1 if you wish this message to continue in English/Press 1972 if you require a Customer Service Representative" menu and spending about 45 minutes on hold (all of which burns up the minutes *I* pay for) I finally get to talk to a real person.

The guy, named Rick, was very understanding and really quite nice. Unfortunately, he informed me that the lady at Dobson (cell company) had given me the wrong number. He offered to connect me and I accepted.

After spending another 30 or so minutes on hold I was connected to a very nice young lady that informed me she would be unable to continue the claims process unless I could give her the model number of my phone. When I asked her how this could be done she informed me all I needed to do was pull the battery out of the phone and look at a little sticker on the back and then tell her what it was, in a very condescending tone of voice. At this point I hung up on her and started laughing so hard tears were leaking out of the side of my eyes. Please explain how, exactly, I'm supposed to take the battery out of the phone that I am using to talk to you, and then tell you the model number? After dealing with this rampant stupidity I can understand why most of the world hates the U.S....Maybe I can say I'm Canadian when I go to London.

I survived the week in hell at my Sisters. Now I'm home and life is good.

I think I've adopted my neighbors dog. She's on my lap right now looking up at me wiht those big brown eyes asking if it's time to go to bed yet. The best part is, she sleeps all night and never moves. Ever. I'm one of those freaky people that rather enjoys letting the dog sleep in the bed. I know it's weird but...yeah. I don't care. She's clean, I'm the one that shampoos her. I feed her (most of the time) and she reciprocates by snubbing her real owners every time I drive up. They'll be outside playing catch with her and when I drive up she ignores them and runs over to say hi to me :0 It's so cute.

Anybody else like that or was I just raised differently?

[music |Crazy Frog - Axel F (worst song in the word, and I like it)]

BT's "new" CD is excellent. Good vocals, good beat. I use the word new in quotations because it's still nearly two years old.

Work is great. We've had TWO people quit in the past few months, that's quite the turnover rate considering we've got six employees total. Hired a 51-year old this week and she's cool. She's spastic but still very spiffy, and it looks as if she's going to pull her own weight as well, unlike most of the younger generation that's filtered through in the past two years.

Has anybody been in a relationship that you're not sure is a relationship? I ask because I think that I'm in one. It's odd and if it weren't 1am I could probably give you a better description. Gah, thoughts, emotions, and caffiene are the devil.

And for some urge I want to raid the liquor cabinet right now and just start downing shots.

A howling good time [Sep. 14th, 2005|01:41 am]
[music |Systems of a Down - B.Y.O.B.]

So yeah, I'm sitting here on the "machine" listening to some toons and checking my email and lo, B.Y.O.B. (System of a Down) pops up on the Rhapsody playlist. Isabelle is sitting in my lap and as soon as the lead singer starts to belt out lyrics she starts to howl and go absolutely INSANE. She loves this song. It's quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever heard, she's keeping time with the lyrics.

*EDIT: Rose McGowan is hot. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
